Free Medical Missions in Abia State, Nigeria
For many families in rural Abia State, reaching a clinic and paying for medicine is a real challenge. Our medical missions bring care to them. Working with local health workers, we set up a free outreach where children and adults can be checked, get advice and receive the medicines they need.
Our first medical outreach took place in December 2019 in Ekenobizi Umuopara, Umuahia South L.G.A., Abia State. Families came for health checks, consultations and medicines, and many also took home a Bucket of Love with essentials.
What a Medical Outreach Provides
Basic health checks for children, adults and elders.
Patients meet with health workers who listen and advise on next steps.
Medicines and supplies given out on site at no cost.
Food and essentials for families through our Bucket of Love program.
Each outreach is planned with local partners. We choose a central location, such as a community health center, gather medicines and supplies, and bring volunteers and health workers together for the day.
People register when they arrive, see a health worker and receive medicines before they leave. Many of the people who come are elders and mothers with young children, who often have the hardest time reaching care.
